Renting in downtown Calgary

With the high vacancy rates, renters have their pick while renting in downtown Calgary.  As the economy picks up the choices will narrow.  I have been advising tenants to position themselves in the property of their choice while they can.  They may find themselves squeezed out of the more desirable locations once the market tightens and availability drops.

The terms on which you sign the lease and the cost of the amenities are locked in.  As the market changes the cost of these amenities may increase as will the rent.  A lot of the condos were built to sell so as the market improves you may see them move out of the rental pool altogether.
